Clara’s Birthday Sock Drive
I was very inspired by Paster Erwin’s messages from the series, “Beyond Us,” this past December. I wanted to respond to an urgent need by doing more than expressing sympathy, but by also taking a step of action.

After serving at Project Homeless Connect with others from Mosaic, I felt God calling me to host a sock drive for the homeless. I realized that socks are an overlooked need. It came to me that something so simple as fresh, clean socks can make a significant difference to someone who has been wearing the same pair with holes for the past 6+ months.
On December 29th, 2009, I invited my friends over for my birthday and hosted a sock drive! Everyone was so excited about donating! We ended up collecting over a 100 pairs of new socks! I love what community members of Mosaic are doing to serve the needs of others; thank you for inspiring me to do something too! I hope my story inspires someone else to serve another and make a difference in their day.
Sincerely,
Clara Hutzler
