Description:This is a game changer! If you want to TRULY make a difference in an individual’s LIFE you want to keep your eye on this project. People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) and serveLA are teaming up to bring volunteers to the Silverlake Homeless Registry in October.

The dates for this event are as follows

Volunteer Orientation- Oct. 21 (Fri) 5pm to 7pm

Street Outreach Service Days- Oct. 22-24 (Sat-Mon) 4:30am to 7:00am (Homeless individuals are surveyed in there place of shelter and tents before the day begins. Volunteers must commit to all three days.)

How does it work?

We train volunteers to gather data using a questionnaire that collects information from homeless individuals to assess their health and housing needs to prioritize housing for them.  PATH and serveLA are partnering with 100,000 Homes Campaign, the organization that decreased homelessness in New York’s Times Square by 87 percent. 

You will help immediately find homes for 25 individuals who are at risk of dying on the streets in the next five years.

THIS IS AN INTENSE VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE BUT YOU WILL MAKE A TANGIBLE DIFFERENCE IN THE LA AREA!

Other ways to help:

Community Leader: Become a part of the Community Leadership Team

Stakeholder/Business: Donate money, become an Official Sponsor, or donate in‐kind resources to support the campaign.

Neighbor: Volunteer to conduct the vulnerability survey, or help us with data entry.

Networker: Become an advocate.  Help us get the word out to the community and activate the support of others!  You can do thisin‐person, through online social media, or traditional media.

Volunteer Registration will begin at 8am at Lake Ave Church at 393 N Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA, 91106. We will be registering individuals and passing out volunteer t-shirts.

The event will begin on October 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pasadena Salvation Army and will feature a large-scale collaboration of Pasadena and Los Angeles service provider organizations, businesses and residents to provide area homeless and working poor access to the assistance they need to become self-sufficient and to ultimately obtain affordable housing.
